About us
I am Rhea Tyagi, a high school student in Millburn, New Jersey. Spending my summers in India opened my eyes to poverty and moved me to take action. I knew that it was my duty to improve access to education so that children my age would be able to worry, just as I do, about their next exam rather than worrying about their next meal.
Our Mission
Many students in India remain trapped in cycles of intergenerational poverty due to limited access to quality education, resources, and opportunities. Factors such as socioeconomic barriers, societal norms, and limited mobility prevent them from accessing the skills-based education necessary for future success.
The Pierian Initiative seeks to bridge educational accessibility gaps by providing direct donor-to-student educational funding, hosting free in-person workshops, and providing quality mentorship in the soft skills of the future.
